D&D 5E Ranged Rogue Question

If your going ranger, I suggest gloomstalker. Which gives you similar benifits of sulker.
Sharpshooter isn't all too great for rogues. The more damage you do (sneak attack), the more the accuracy penalty hurts. And cunning action let's you get close.
And you're getting spells, so i see no big reason for magic initiate.

Soo.. +2 Dex seems pretty good.

It's PHB builds only, so gloomstalker isn't available.

Crossbow Expert is the best damage Feat for Rogues.
Yeah...unless I get an incredible magic crossbow, I'm just going to stick with bows. I want a rogue that feels like a ranger.

Which Roguish Archetype are you taking? I personally don't like my Rogues messing around with spells. I would prefer to play a stealthy Ranger for that. I would NOT take Sharpshooter with a Rogue. I would also max Dex before taking a feat unless you start with vHuman.

You could consider playing wood elf instead of high elf.
You can hide in more places

Get Elven precision at lvl4, and enjoy 3d20(take highest) rolls from hidden place.

Off topic; stats are really too high.

Im going with Arcane Trickster. I like the utility of spells over the one shot critical of Assassin. The sharpshooter is more for the ability to ignore 1/2 and 3/4 cover (+2 or +5 to AC is huge!) and use the full range of a longbow with advantage. I agree with you on max Dex. I'm leaning towards Sharpshooter at 8, but I'll see how things are going.

I had originally planned to go wood elf, but high elf makes more sense for a trickster build (cantrip and dex/int bonus). I'll take another look, since I rolled so well.

Unfortunately, elven precision isn't an option. The DM is limiting it to PHB builds. Maybe I can talk him into it at a later time.
