Ranger/Druid?

I'm trying to help a friend with a build.

He mentioned he wanted some kind of Ranger/Druid hybrid.

More specifically, he likes the ranger ranged weapon bonus feats and the druid's spell progression.

He's less interested in the druids shapechanging.

My current advice is to simply take druid and get the ranged weapon feats using his normal feats, but I was wondering whether there is some alternate class feature option out there that would benefit him more.

I know there is an alternate class in UA that gives a ranger a low powered form of the druid's shapechanging, but is there any ACF that replaces shapechange for the rangers ranged combat feats?
(other class combinations that lead to a similar progression welcome too!)

Given that one of the class variant options is to have a ranger gain fast movement and limited shapechange by giving up Combat style, improved combat style and combat style mastery, how balanced would it be to give a Druid the Combat Style, Improved Combat Style and Combat Style Mastery in place of his shapechange ability?

It would be incredibly underpowered. Ranger trades combat style feats for a gimped form of wildshape, and char op STILL considers making that trade to bump the ranger up a whole tier in power.

If he trades his wildshape, he should get more than just the ranger's 3 bonus feats.

Once I had a druid ranger with AD&D. I remember I was used to hold two scimitars and transmute into small mammals fo flee away from combat when things went bad, or to introduce myself through narrow corridors, rooms and so on.

Bye, MadLuke.

...or he would be dropped a Tier?

I'm not sure that would be so bad.

On the other hand, maybe I'll give him the extra bonus feats gained by one of the spellless ranger variants as well. That might even the field somewhat.
