Ranger > Warlock

It's true that the ranger deals plain damage, which cannot be resisted by any monster in the MM,

Some creatures in the MM are insubstantial, and that keyword means they talk half damage from any attack, inlcuding "plain damage".

Rot Scarab worms talk half damage from melee and ranged.

Also, the lock has the flexability to select an attack power with a different damage type. If you know something is resistant to fire, don't hit them with a fire spell. Likewise, if you know something is vulnerable to a certain damage type, hit them with that. I don't think the Ranger can take advantage of something that is vulnerable by dealing just "plain damage".

Then there is the one small disadvantage of the ranger running out of arrows :) Hey, it could happen :)

Yeah. I'm just using it as an example since I don't have the books early.

Damage vulnerability is a wonderful power.

Really, to put it in WoW terms, this is like complaining about Shadow Bolt without considering Succubus and Fear.

Beat Them Into the Ground L13 encounter power allows everyone to make a basic attack as a free action and it does no damage but knocks the enemy down. Dragon Breath is not listed as a basic attack, which is probably good, b/c a group of 5 Dragonborn would rain destructive death on an entire group of enemies w/just one encounter power.

Wait, what - no monsters have resist weapon X? Seriously?
Gricks have resistance to attacks that target AC (i.e. most weapon attacks). Kinda strange that no other monster but the grick got that.

Wrong guess. I was playing red box in 1984.

What's weird is I've only played one MMORPG (WoW), and I started at the end of 2006.

I've been using the "rolled up a new 'tar/toon" since the late 90s when I was in High School.

I dunno, sometimes people who want to find something, will find it, regardless of intent.
