Rangers and tracking?

The flavour text for rangers states that they are superior trackers who can follow bird twitters or something like that (sorry, book not with me right now) but I see no tracking-related feat or power in the class features. Tracking has been bundled into perception and while you can build a tracking ranger, you don't get any help from the class.
Or am I missing something?

Yep, no other class has a use for wisdom _and_ perception as a class skill.

Wisdom is one of two key stats for clerics.
Wizards also have a few uses for wisdom.
But they don't have perception as a class skill. They'll need to either spend a feat for it, or perhaps be Eladrin. Either way it is a use of a resource that Rangers get for free. So the text is _somewhat_ truthful (truthy?) in saying that Rangers are great trackers.

I would have expected a Ranger Utility Power for tracking.
I don't doubt that either WoTC (via the Dragon or other future products) will correct the oversight.

If not... I might modify one of the Ranger Utility Powers (like the one that prevents Ambush) to also include a bonus to tracking and other outdoor uses of perception. They should be able to be blood hounds in Skill Challenges.

Warlords are actually the best trackers now, thanks to the new prestige class Paragon Path in Dragon.
