Rangers - TWF or Ranged?

You don't need a power in your offhand weapon, a straight +X will do fine. But yes I do see that this is a potential problem for the TWF Ranger.

However the idea that a TWF Ranger needs to always be up in the enemies grill seems to be missing the point that with the right build you can swap between TWF and Ranged as needed.

Oh the Rogue with Cat Burglar Paragon seems to be a good multiclass for Rangers as well, as it makes enemy forced movement less effective while making you harder to pin down.

I also think that Rangers will move around plenty in combat. Starting out with ranged, letting the Defenders start locking mobs down, then comming in and bringing the hurt via TWF seems to be perfectly viable.

The point was that mechanically Ranged Style seems to offer nothing in general mechanical advantage over Two Blade Style. Yes you loose the two Paragon Paths with the Ranged Style as a pre-req, but frankly that doesn't seem to be much of a problem right now.
