Rant about (lack of) info in new 3.5 conversion guide

I just got done downloading and looking at the new 3.5 conversion guide. Very dissapointing for one big reason. It tells you that rangers and bards now get more skill points. No place does it tell you what the new skill points are. This is very basic info that anyone running one of these classes need. I thought the whole point of the conversion guide is that if you can't get/ won't get new books you can convert your character over. HOW CAN YOU CONVERT THE CHARACTER IF YOU DON'T KNOW HOW MANY SKILL POINTS YOU GET? Bravo WOTC, you have restored my faith in you.
My other minor complaint is the first and last pages have lots of black for no reason. Will eat up lots of ink when you print it out.

The compiled revisions thread by Olgar Shiverstone says Bards and Rangers get 6 skill points per level.

All the info you need is right here.

And the booklets do say, that their intent is to give a broad view of the changes and not details, by implication for that you need to buy the books.;)

The point is it should have been in the conversion guide. WOTC first said that you can convert characters with just the conversion guide and not have to buy the new books, another lie. You can't just pick up the convesion guide and change over with just that. WOTC orginally said you could. I know you can find info on what was left out on net easily, but it should have been in there and it was not.

Hmm, I'd say they didn't put all the details in there because they either (a) expected you to look at the SRD, or (b) actually purchase the books.

Personally, I'm glad they spent their pages on the other books (MM II, MoTP) and not on repeating data that will be found elsewhere.

Now, they just need to update the splat books and Savage Species, and I'll be all set. :D

My biggest problem with it is the overwhelming use of Toughness on creatures that previously did not have feats (dire and legendary animals, dinosaurs, etc). Let's hope that they're more creative in the actual monster manual.

Demiurge out.

I desperately need to know how the new monk flurry system works with regards to stacking with prestige classes. Previously, certain PrCs allowed the BaB to stack (so you could use it to get your attacks at -3/-3 etc... instead of -5/-5 etc...

If anyone has any thoughts (or if I have been stupid and missed something) then please do post them.

Where did they say this exactly, please?

I agree, and I think it sucks. I don't despise them for this, it's quite fair after all, and they can do what they want. But IIRC the free conversion guide from 2ed to 3ed was actually useful, compared to this crap (it's crap only for the corebooks, not for the others). Or wasn't it free? I never played 2ed, so I didn't use the 2->3 conversion guide, IIRC it covered only character creation - not running the game - but that was actually working and useful.
I don't know if it's a sign about a change in WotC's attitude...

This "conversion guide" (corebooks part) is just an overview of what's changed. Not that it cheats you, it SAYS it's an overview and not a conversion. My fault, I was expecting something else, so this PDF already found its way into my deleted items folder.

The 2->3 Conversion Manual was;
A: Free in all forms (electronic and paper)
B: Available for download as a PDF.
C: Available in dead tree form as a pamphlet in many bookstores.

I got the last one left in my local Walden's. :)
In retrospect, they would have let me keep the display box if I'd asked, but I'm not worried about that.

Is this current guide available in bookstores, or just in electronic form?
