(RANT) Magic restricted while more expensive!

Well, what I've known from your second post was that you had problems with this woman as a woman and should probably just switch to a nice boys club group where you'd be happy. But thanks for confirming it.
Next time just say "I have personal problems with my DM" and don't waste everyone's time pretending there's actually a issue that you would present fairly or accept any useful advice on. It will save time.

Sorry that you took offense at the candle-joke, yesterday i felt like writing something nasty. I am not having problems with "this woman as a woman", usually i don't care about this kind of thing. Basically we are all strange, no matter what the gender.

For me it IS a problem that the most basic rules for the class i am playing are changed so harshly - my wizard awoke some morning, and could only cast 1st lvl necromancy spells because of the small onyx earring he found somewhere. Am i supposed to be happy with that?

Also it IS a problem that she decided to quit DMing because the players (yes, not only me) were not happy with the change but she DID NOT want to talk about a way of fixing things in a way everyone would accept. We liked the flvor but not the machanics.

No real problem should have arisen here would we all have been able to talk that over - which wasn't the case and cost us an opportunity to game.

If these are no problems in your opinion or you have a solution, then post it, please! If instead you feel this thread is wasting your time, or i simply need psychological help because i am afraid of women, then i am sorry and then there is nothing to be seen here, move on, thank you.

Fake. This has to be fake. This kind of thing doesn't really happen. Does it?QUOTE]

Hi kreynolds,

sorry it isn't (though i wish it was - damn, used another charge and the DM is still immune! :D). I'll ask Darklone, who is in the same group, what he can tell you about that...

Yeah guys... it does happen.

The reason why she stopped DMing was because she noticed that we didn't have a blast during her adventure as she hoped we'd have. (She was playing in another group some weeks ago who had a standard D&D hack&slash dungeoneer party and wondered why our game wasn't as funny.)

As I wrote in my first post here, any comment about her houserules without a long introduction about how stressed we all are, that we like her and that we really liked the intention of her houserules and appreciated the effort she put into it but that we have a minor suggestion about it.... any comment without such a long preparation results at once in "You boys don't like me!"

Neither Dougal nor me are always in a mood to walk on raw eggs like this since we are both stressed at work.

Dougal and me had similar discussions cause I'm a DM who loves to do the houserule tango and he prefers corerules whenever possible.

But the problem stays the same. How do you tell someone who does not care about game balance and mechanics that his houserules are baaaaad?

You don't. You can try but they won't listen/care. You deal or you leave. You can't make a person listen/care. That is one of the unfortunate truths of the world.
