(Rant) Pet peeves about people

Ok I am sorry for this but I really have to say something. It just really gets on my nerves when someone asks a question and you give them an answer. Then when they question your answer and you show them proof and they say that it is wrong. I don't know how many times I have seen on here where someone will quote a FAQ or an e-mail from the Sage, aka Skip Williams, and then someone else will come along and say that he is wrong or doesn't know what he is talking about. Last time I checked Skip was one of the original desingers of 3e and got paid to do this. Sure there were some mistakes in the books that is why we have Errata and FAQs. How is it that people actually think they know what the designers intended, including Skip, for this game better then a designer! I mean I really wish I was so smart that I know what he intended to do even if he doesn't know himself!

Ya, it does seem to happen and it is annoying. THe same when people post their prestige classwes, feats, spells etc that they made up and then when you give your opinio (which they ask for) they argue and tell you how wrong you are.

I concur. I hate arguing with people who don't even know what they're talking about, too.

But my chief pet peeve about people is:

They breed.

A lot of people don't really want a debate about their opinions or creations.

They want to hear others say how cool they and their ideas are.

They might not know that's what they want, but that's the only thing they'll be happy with.

To be fair, Skip does occasionally give some really bogus answers.

My favorite was when he said there was difference between "imbibing" and "drinking" a potion in his sage advice column (or was it swallowing/imbibing, I dunno). Wow. That's spitting hairs at a new level. I was waiting for him to rule that to use a potion, you had to have another PC point at you with his/her/its elbow first.... :D

Besides, people have disagreed with RPG designers from day 1, why should Skip Williams be any different?
