Rappan Athuk Reloaded on Amazon

Umm... has this sold out already? WW doesn't seem to be selling pre-orders anymore.
:(

It has sold out with regard to pre-orders, though you will still be able to get one at Gen Con and through stores that use Alliance distributors.

In other words (if I understand correctly), there are no boxes left over after preorders, including those orders from FLGS and related stores.

None are expected to be available from amazon.

Has anyone heard if there will be a 'reprint' or 'special edition' release at some later date... or something like an economy version that is stripped down to basics?

I have heard there are no such things planned. The only thing available from now on is the pdf, other than the copies sold at GenCon and the few in the Alliance pipeline, etc...

Believe me, since it sold out by a WIDE MARGIN, whatever that really means, my first question was about a reprint. My expected answer is "no". Now I'm really glad I bought two and have the pdf's.

From a business minded point of view... complete sell-outs are a very sure indicator of a reprint or revised/updated editions. Any company that produces a sucessful edition of a product (wether books or other products) will usually make the business decision to add to their profits. This is why I expect there to be an additional offering of some sort, and why I expect some sort of buzz about some secret release in the future.

Anyway, I cannot imagine there not being some sort of future development for Rappan Athuk sometime.

part of that would depend on the demand no? Perhaps they'll do it based on if X number of preorders are made?

This wasn't a cheap product to produce so I can't imagine that they'll just flip a few switches and reprint the whole boxed set just to cover a 'sell' out.

Just because presales are good doesn't mean that Alliance doesn't have enough to meet 'street' demand so to speak.

This is true Joe. I'm glad I pre-ordered mine from WW directly.

Well, maybe you have better info than I do, but I haven't heard anything about a "Wide Margin." It is sold out though.

Reprints are based on demand. If there is sufficient demand Clark has already said we'd reprint it. There has to be enough demand to merit a reprint though. People clamoring for a total of 10-20, or even 100 copies isn't enough demand (sorry).

I'll talk to Bill and either get him to post here about how many copies will be at GenCon or post here myself.

Patrick

Edit: Bill says the convention reserve is 100 copies. There will be 100 copies for GenCon.

We can't bring pre-orders to the Con. There are lots of reasons, but basically, we can't really do that.
Now I'm intrigued.

I did preorder, and I'm cool with getting it in the mail, but I'm really interested in hearing these reasons now. It was a nice surprise when Malhavoc offered to do this for Ptolus and I'm assuming they had some similar hurdles to overcome.

So, can you tell us what the reasons are Patrick?
