Just for Diaglo :)

Now that the discussion on Ravenloft has died down, let's do The Temple of Elemental Evil. I am not going to rate this one, as I haven't played nor read it.

One.

I realise my POV is verging on heretical but T1 The Village of Hommlet was a great little adventure; T1-4 was a piece of turgid dreck for which there is no satisfactory excuse as to why it took about four years to write and still came out as a really boring giant dungeon crawl.

Surely some of that four or five year writing period could have been spent actually designing some flavour for the various elemental cults? This was one adventure that highlighted the profound inadequacies of "generic clerics" for conveying the appropriate flavour.

Trule terrible. How this incomplete (nodes) mess of a module ever managed to win so many plaudits over the past twenty or so years is beyond me.

T1 was my favorite Gygax adventure.

T2-4 were abyssmal. Not at all what they were what I had hoped, and as a result I hated the compilation (which also had a slightly abridged T1) with a cold dispassion.
