Reveal, I don't want to clog another thread defending the way I talk, so I'll put it behind a spoiler tag

[sblock] Can I ever make a point without insulting other people? apparently not.

apparently there's a handful of people who either don't understand or don't enjoy sarcasm or anything the slightest bit different than Strawberry Shortcake dialogue. apparently there are people so thin-skinned that everytime someone disagrees with them its perceived as an insult. so apparently I will always insult or offend SOMEONE.

There's nothing I can do about it. This is how I talk. Luckily, there's plenty of people who don't seem to be offended by my subtle mastery of the English language (that was more sarcasm) so I still have friends. And I also decided long ago that if I offend or insult a handful of people, but others don't mind me...well, the entertainment of the many outweighs the needs of the few or the one.

Maybe its a NYC thing. I dunno. I've only met one person face-to-face who has ever called me rude, and he was a Southerner. So after I waited a few years for him to finish his sentence, I told him that just like his way of talking slow was irritating but he couldn't help it, my way of talking that he found irritating also couldnt be helped. Always amazed at how the fastest people to cry "rude" never stop to think that they themselves might be considered rude by someone else.

But I do find it odd, that Ecliptic said he doesnt understand "the idiots" who download stuff instead of watching it on TV. No humor. Just an insult. Based on inaccurate information. Why didn't you get on him for calling people idiots?

I've misread things on websites, or misunderstood things and posted stuff that made me look foolish. It happens to everyone occasionally. When someone points it out to me, I say "I feel sheepish. Baaaaa" and move on, not try to make the guy who corrected me look like a bad guy to draw attention away from my mistake.

Of course, the joke's on me for even writing this response, since I'm sure you will just take it as a further offense, and I will continue to be baffled as to why. [/sblock]

I will also put it in a spoiler tag:

[sblock]I didn't get on ecliptic because I've seen his posts and they're all offensive (to me at least) and pointless. You actually have a point and are fairly articulate in getting it across. Unfortunately, sarcasm doesn't translate well across boards, heck I've been accused of being a butthead because the sarcasm wasn't taken in the correct vein. When I read you're post I think, "He's got a good point" but the sarcasm, if that's what it is, throws me.

But... knowing that you are trying to be sarcastic, I'll make a note of it in the future. :)

Oh, and I'm from the South and I did get the sarcasm about us. That was funny. ;)[/sblock]
