Ravenloft: The Horrors Within

Ravenloft: The Horrors Within Announced, Release Date Scheduled for June 2026

Soth came back to Krynn in around 1999 as far as I can remember, and Weis and Hickman killed him off there in a novel in the early 2000s. I strongly agree that whatever W&H have been negotiation with WotC about, it's very unlikely to be him and Ravenloft all over again.

Much more likely some detail to do with their current DL novel project, which is I think about Magius.

Soth appears in in V: EoR, and is still in Krynn. Indeed, the "current time" in Krynn, the War of the Lance is still raging. This can be liked to the "current date" in other settings since EoR is a crossover. Events that occur after that are still in the future. Of course time is whacked in Ravenloft, and the future is also the past.

We know she was happy with the outcome, and we know that she hated Soth in Ravenloft.
I still assume neither one came up. She is working on a new DL trilogy of books, and was at a meeting at WotC with Joe Manganiello, which would indicate talks about the DL TV series. Both feel like much more likely things to be involved in negotiations over.

The lore changes in VGR are permanent. WotC aren’t going to wind them back because some older players can’t abide change.
sure, does that mean there is no Soth in RL? No idea and do not care either way…

He is established as being in Krynn, so no, he is not in Ravenloft.

But it’s Sithicus that they won’t be doing, for the simple reason is you need to know a lot of lore around Krynn’s elves for it to make sense, and very few players are familiar with that these days. Soth himself gets recognised as the Darth Vader clone from the Dragonlance setting, but very few people know anything else about the setting or the novels. Not helped by the failure of WotC’s most recent attempt to revive it. If Krynn can be revived (TV show?), then you can do a Krynn domain in Ravenloft, but you can’t put the cart before the horse.

Just because she left the office happy doesn’t mean they discusses Ravenloft at all. It is more likely about Dragonlance novels or the fabled TV series.

The other thing with Soth and Sithicus is there was a very underrated 2e Ravenloft module called When Black Roses Bloom that really delivered a great Soth in Ravenloft story. Even if WotC moved Soth back to Dragonlance (which is good), and got rid of Sithicus (there’s no point without Soth there), there is still a very excellent adventure module for Ravenloft that also serves as a fantastic Dragonlance module too due to the nature of the story. If you knew nothing about Soth from DL, that module had you covered.

There isn’t really much left of the Shadowfell that isn’t Ravenloft.

Domains of Delight has the entirety of the Feywild divided into domains.
Actually, per the DMG setup, there is still plenty of Feywild beyond individual Domains, same with the Shadowfell. The Vecna adventure explored the Shadowfell beyond Ravenloft a bit.

As Humble Minion said: Weis and Hickman killed off Soth and they've been pretty loud through all the years that they don't consider anything but their own stories as Dragonlance canon. So for them and their books, Soth in V: EoR isn't "real."*

*) I think canon in rpgs are kinda silly myself.
