So there are 9 dark gifts, which are now 1st level feats. VRGR had eight. So we are getting at least one more gift. Additionally, Mist Wanderer is now a background, which might connect to the dark gift mist walker.

I looked closely at the DM screen... It looks pretty good!

I'm all about functionality mixed with excellent art. For the past 2 years, I've been using the DM screen for ShadowDark in my D&D games, simply because it is VERY functional. The art is good too.

Who knows? I might switch to this new Ravenloft screen, simply because it is beautiful and it contains the elements that I want in a quick-reference...

Think it’s confirmed all 4 subclasses have either an origin feat (one of the two new ones or one from the PHB, idk which) OR you can sub in a dark gift in place of your origin feat. I doubt any of the 4 have a mandated dark gift va just “pick one.”

Mist Walker may just be an Origin Feat now, rather than a dark gift.

The VGR dark gifts are very unbalanced, I think several will need a significant rework to match the power level of feats.

Surprised that, of the examples listed, all but one (nightgaunts, which are Lovecraftian) are reprints from Van Richten's Guide. I don't mind those monsters, but it is a bit odd to see, in my opinion.
I would imagine that all the stat blocks from VGR and CoS will be updated to 5.5 in this book. The rest will be mostly dark lords and lovecraft monsters.
