Awesome! KC, can you add some brief instructions on how you're extracting sound files? What version of the video are you using? I think I've used Audacity before, but it's been a while.
I went to www.zamzar.com and pasted in the youtube link, and then chose the format to convert to (in this case, wave - mp3 requires an additional file to DL for Audactity so I didn't do it that way). Zamzar converts it and sends a DL link to my email. Then I load up Audacity (a free audio editing program) and import the WAV file, and edit it. In Audacity, I just selected the portion of the clip and exported it as a WAV file. Pretty easy - it took me more time to remember how to edit in Audacity than it did to actually do the edit.
EDIT: As Family says, this is all pretty easy to do. I found Zamzar on www.lifehacker.com today, and altogether had the first clip edited in about 45 minutes (from looking for a file conversion site to finished clip) - the second clip I edited took five minutes at most.

this is all the audio clips of the gnome. let me know if you need a more specific chunk or any other pieces. the separate "I'm a gnome" is from the mindflayer video.
how I did it.
open Audacity go to video on wizards. play video press record on audacity.
highlight a chunk, export selection.
