I'd actually stick with the "boring human" as you put it Dog Moon ... leave out the warforged for the moment. That's my opinion on the matter.

Well, I've made part of my character, leaving out any benefits of race for the moment.

EDIT: Perhaps I should explain the rationale a little. I am personally not much of an "Eberron" fan myself, BUT I know a little about it, and "warforged" seem to be a "race" very specific to the Eberron setting. How would a warforged wander into our setting? So on a personal level it would create inconsistency that would always stick out like a sore thumb.

Well, warforged specifically may be Eberron, but 'iron-built man' or anything of the sort can be part of ANY world. Construct Creation feats exist in the Core MM. Wouldn't be too far of a fetch to create an intelligent one.

In the same vein, having a warforged whatever would sure make us as a group identifiable and trackable.... "Just look for the armor plated etc." You get the idea.

I think this response kind of annoys me, whether or not I wanted to play a Warforged. This would mean that we can't play anything slightly out of the ordinary. I played a character who was a 15 year old girl in the last campaign. That would mean that it would make our group identifiable because it's the group with the leader who is a 15 year old girl. By your rationale, that would be a bad choice...

BUT, I should close all this simply by saying that I am NOT the DM. Ultimately final decisions should be decided by the DM. I can give input as a fellow player and all, but that is as far as it would be right to go. I do not mean to cause "trouble" per se (and apologize if I have already disconcerted you or others!) and if your enjoyment of the game initially hinges on having a warforged race and RC approves, then by all means go for it!

Maybe I will learn something and/or a new appreciation! :D

Is the DM going to look in this thread? Was hoping to get an answer from him about the viability of Warforged, whether as is or if they would need to be modified in any way.

Well, RC DOES look into the thread now and again. I am sure he will soon.

BTW there is a difference between a 15 year old girl and a warforged physically ... but that is only my opinion. :\ Let's let RC decide! :D

No, but my point is that that character made the group quite distinguished while being Human. 'Look for the leader with one eye'. Still make the group distinguished. While I could see some people maybe not liking the Warforged because it's too powerful [don't really know if it is or not; just an example], too ingrained into Eberron, or something else, saying a thing is too distinguishable just seems like an illogical point within the argument.

But yeah, let RC decide. :)

To make clear though ... the uneasiness of the option for me is twofold: the ingrainedness of the race in Eberron, and the "sore thumb stickout" aspect. The first is the main reason in my book. SHoulda made that clearer ... then we could have possibly AVOIDED this whole rigaramole! OTOH ... we have increased our postcount. :\

Hmm ... very poor recompense in my opinion. :(

I made a cool Warforged NPC once. I applied the Gigantic template to it and then gave it a couple of levels of Warlock. I think I added a couple d6 to the blast to make it a little more fitting. Guess what I was trying to emulate? :D

Uhh ... ... I honestly have no idea.

Galactus? :\

Go for it.

Like I said earlier, anything non-SRD you have to make sure I have a copy of, but otherwise anything goes.

Besides, being identifiable isn't always a bad thing. ;)

Cool. Looking forward to it. :)

I do have one question however, and this pertains more to my background than anything else: how common are Warforged in this campaign you're running? I have no problems either way, just wondering.
