Reach Weapon Enchantment

Yup, the one I'm thinking of adds 5' and is +1, if it works on a whip, it'd just be neat to have the extra range, and while

Distance enchantment from the DMG should technically work, but since all it does is double the range increment, and Whips have no range increment, it's moot.

Hence looking for some sort of officialish ruling on how it works. And I'm curious if point blank shot, precise shot, and other feats then work with the whip.

If this Reach adjustment allowed you to strike both adjacent and 10' away, all the time, I'd probably put it at a +2 or (maybe) +3 enhancement.

If you have to switch back and forth as an action, then it's probably just +1. I'm iffy on +1 if it's a move-equivalent; I'd be more comfortable with a standard.

I've seen no such enhancement in any book that I can recall, though.
 

"Forged in Magic" from Paradigm concepts has a weapon enhancement called Reaching that will extend the reach of a melee weapon by 5 (+1 enhancement), 10 (+2 enhancement), or 15 feet (+3 enhancement). It doesn't make the weapon grow any bigger, but allows your strikes to reach farther, like an invisible extension on the end of the weapon.

Does it turn it into a longspear or a duom - ie threaten 5' and 10', or just 10'?

What sort of action/duration/time-per-day is involved?

A greataxe with a permanent 5'-20' reach for a +3 enhancement? Sign me up!

There's the Tentacle Blade in Book of Eldritch Might. It's a +1 greatsword that's mounted on a retractable tentacle, giving it an additional 5 foot reach.

It's always on, and it doesn't stop the weapon from threatening it's normal area.
 

What's that crazy sword/flail double weapon from Sword and Fist called again?

I saw someone using something a bit like it at a LARP once. He had a set of weapons with socketed hafts - an axe, a couple of halfspears, a flail... and he would connect them together, to make a halberd with a spiked butt, or a double-ended longspear, or whatever.

I saw him fighting with a spear/flail setup. His opponent had figured out the reach, and was hanging back just beyond jab range. The guy grabbed hold of the head of the flail and threw the spear - the chain gave him an extra 18 inches or so of reach - catching his opponent completely off guard... and before anyone really knew what had happened, he had the spear back in his hands with a quick jerk on the chain.

It was very, very smooth.

Wait...it let's you threaten out that far? If you can only make attacks out to that range, well that would be cool for the price, but being able to threaten a 25' radius? With combat reflexes and stand still or Large and In Charge?

*sigh*

Sometimes I think Arcanis gets a little too ambitious with it's features. Y'know, most times they have some really cool ideas, but then they take it just that little bit further that makes you want to smack them on the nose with a rolled up newspaper.
