Ready to use standard NPC's

You know what I mean...

Your party is looting the bodies of YET another bugbear attack. One of the players looks at the DM and asks:

"How come we never have a random encounter with evil NPC's ?"

Because it is too much of a hassle.

NOW...

The NPC's in the DM's guide are somewhat useful, but here is what I would like: full ready-to-use blocks in easy to read format for NPC's, for each class, maybe one of each 3rd level i.e. levels 1, 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18... with spells ready, maybe 4 per page. You could then cut and paste a whole party in a matter of seconds, send it to the printer, and voila, instant party.

Does anyone already has something like this ?

OK, before this thread gets bumped to page 35, does anyone think that would be a worthwile addition to a DM's tools ?

Because by the looks of it, before we get a free online NPC generator, D&D 4.0 will be upon us...

If enough people show an interest in this...

...*sigh*...

...I might get down to actually do all that work. IF enough people show an interest in this.

If.

Well, one of the things I've found very useful, in part because my campaigns have a very high casualty rate, is that I reach into the pile of the dead, pull from the bottom a few sheets, and then use that for the stats of the opposing party. It helps that the players have done all the work for me, and since the stack is maybe 30-50 dead PCs high at any given time, they're unlikely to recognize the exact ones I pulled, particularly if I vary the descriptions. That, and the fact that they're trying to kill you, helps to prevent more detailed identification.

I use mostly classed NPCs, and I agree it can be a headache. I use a mix of the DMG 3.0 NPCs altered to fit, and Jamis Buck's NPC generator NPCs with tweaked skills and feats - the latter don't have gear though, so they still need a lot of work. I've also done up some standard stat blocks for human grunt Warriors at various levels. I agree this is amongst the biggest DM headaches of 3rd edition. For my campaign, rather than 'every 3rd level' stats for every PC class, a variety of different every-3rd stat blocks for differently equipped human Fighters & Warriors would be most useful, since they make up the great bulk of encounters. High-level NPC BBEGs are ok to do individually, but for NPC-class & lower level NPCs (lower than the party's level) quick & dirty seems best.
