"Real" Gold Pieces

Oriental Trading Company

I found some really cutesy Caught You Doing something Good (or some such sappy stuff) on some plastic coins at Oriental Trading Company. I just got them in today, and they come in six colors, four of which match up quite nicely with the Copper through platinum coin colors, and two additional colors that I plan on using as two new denominations (Mithral and Adamantine, maybe? Or Dragon Shard for one of them since it's Eberron?). They're large coins, but at only 3.95 for 144 of them they're definitely useable.

They also have some pirate-type silver and gold coins available, and some grosses of plastic american coin replicas.

Look for bulk toy suppliers, the kind that sell raffle tickets, rubber balls by the gross, and so forth. I bought a hundred coins for $2 I think, and they look great.

What about the "gold" Sacejawia dollars. You should be able to get them in rolls at your local bank. And you are never really out the money.

Yes, I know they don't weigh what gold would, but the OP didn't mention that as a requirement.

While I worked with the Navy they used metal (aluminum) coins of different colors as tokens and give-a-ways during special events. The coins are about 1.25 inches across, thin and come in purpleish-blue, silver and gold. I used a double handful of them for platinum, silver and gold pieces.

Since somebody mentioned lead coins, I might was well mention that Iron Wind Metals has rereleased the Ral Partha fantasy coins:

They're not really lead anymore, and probably not cost-effective for Kae'Yoss, but they are kinda nifty for props.
Interesting link! However, I serioulsy doubt that Dwarves use rectangular coinage, that Humans have squarish coins, and that Orcs utilize either triangular, pentagonal, or otherwise trapezoidal coins. Somebody over there has a unique imagination, though.
