reality into adventure (CONTEST)(pogre and teflon billy win!)

Doh...I just found this thread cause I've been out of town. Now I am stuck at work with few resources and really want to find something if I can.

I'll just have to google my little heart out then...heh

POLE SHIFT:
A cataclysmic inversion of the planet's axis of rotation, up to 180 degrees; a sudden slippage of the planet's solid crust around the molten core.

Has it happened before? Could it Happen again? Yes is the astonishing verdict of this thoughtful new study. Top researcher John White probes deeply into ancient history, modern science and psychic prophesy, drawing on experts from every field, to reach his astonishing conclusion that the Earth may indeed be due for a pole shift...and that the cataclysm is possible, even likely, by the end of this century!

Pole Shift by John White 1987
An overly wordy piece about Axis shifts and how they have affected the world before. Good but much like pulling teeth at times to read.

Inside cover descrip is better than back cover-

The ultimate disaster! Enormous tidal waves will roll across continents as oceamns become displaced from their basins. Hurricane winds of hundreds of miles per hour will scour the planet. Earthquakes greater than any ever measured will change the shape of the continents. Volcanoes will pour out huge lava flows along with poisonous gases and choking ash. Climates will change instantly, and the geography of the globe will be radically altered. If the pole shift is less than a full 180 degrees, the polar icecaps will melt rapidly, raising sea levels, while new icecaps will begin to build. And large numbers of organisms, including the human race, will be decimated or even become extinct, with signs of their existence hidden under thick layers of sediment and debris or at the bottom of newly established seas...

Based a comicbook once on this idea. I have yet to use it within a DnD story...very final and surely epic level :p
