I checked out the reaction table. I like the table entries, but I notice that the main factor in a creature's attitude is the type of creature. Do the PCs have an effect on creature attitude? Does the situation affect it?
I checked out the reaction table. I like the table entries, but I notice that the main factor in a creature's attitude is the type of creature. Do the PCs have an effect on creature attitude? Does the situation affect it?
Yes the PCs can effect the attitude of creatures through their actions. These tables just give a starting point for an encounter, they are random so as DM I don't need to fuss over how every creature is going to act. Plus it gives me a bit of a surprise as well.
The situation could effect the roll. The most likely effect would come the disposition of the party. If they were kicking in doors guns blazing, so to speak, they would probably get a modifier to the initial roll. Or if they were to be well known because of their deeds.
As usual with rules light the DM makes the call based on the situation and hopefully some common sense.
