Realms of Evil is probably the oldest D&D site left after WebRPG was absorbed into RPGHost. However, at 11 years of age, it is my opinion that the site has become stagnant, gaining less and less visitors every month. Not only that, but I do not have the money to continue this 'phantom' publishing company that was little more than a dream (you try making a 200+ page PDF on a computer that is nearly 7 years old). I tried, but the finances simply aren't there and neither is the patience to watch 11 years of work die from disinterest. So af of 8/7/05, I will be closing Realms of Evil for good. I think its time to put the old girl out of my misery, so to speak.

If I can find someone I trust to run it after I leave, then maybe it'll stick around, but I doubt I will.

Anyway, it was a good run.

Sorry to here that... It's been a long haul that's for sure!

Anyway, if you want to hand the site over to someone and have us host it for free, we'd gladly do that for you.

At the very least, instead of just leaving the site as a deadend, we'd gladly give you a bit of $ for the domain to have it point to something more useful to gamers who stumble across it.

Whatever you'd like to do we'd like to lend you a hand to keep the domain around at least.

Feel free to email me at webmaster@rpghost.com

That's too bad Shawn. How is this going to affect Blasphemous Bestiary or Mortis Arcanum, or any other RoE publication?

last I heard, Blasphemous Bestiary got canned...

which was a real pity cos I had alot of fun writing things for that book...

:(

and Shawn, I'm sorry to hear that RoEG has become too much... I'm sure we've all encountered something similar in our lives but after 11 years I imagine it'd be hard to come to the decision to close up...

Well, my staff members are trying to convince me otherwise and are in a effort to dredge up support.

My problem is the fact that my sister and I bare the entire brunt of the financial cost, not to mention the responsibility for most of the work. It's one reason the main site hasn't been updated with new material in the last year and a half. So we're doing all this work keeping the forums up and running, but recieving very little in return for it. Not to mention that I have become really rusty on HTML, meaning I haven't been able to come up with a new layout in ages...plus, my server admin turned the PERL off on the server after it kept crashing it...so I can't even update the news on the main site.

I have a lot of material to add to the site...stuff I wrote for our books or my Stygian articles that were edited out etc. that are still good, but getting it online is the problem and I am just so tired of the current layout that it makes me sick to look at it >.>

BY THE WAY: I would appreciate it if this news wasn't posted to the front of EN World just yet. Like I said above, I may not be closing the site if I can get some help with the work load.

Before RoE goes, I would at least like to see the wealth of material produced by you and others of that site to make it into a published format for sale. I'm sure plenty of publishers would be happy to field the material. Hell, Gallantry Productions would be happy to publish the material and give you 100% of the profits. What specifically needs to be done to get Mortis Arcanum, Blasphemous Bestiary, and anything else into a publishable document? We have the tools, and we can help if necessary.

Drop me a line at davidsgallant@yahoo.ca if you're interested.
