Rebasing Mage Knight minis

I've seen a few entries in the past where people say they've rebased MK minis for more general RPG use ... I've been looking for a decent source to bulk buy 25mm bases for this purpose ... any suggestions?

GW/Citadel bulk sell slottabases and will also sell "closed slottabases" by the sprue ... If I take the "closed option" then it works out at (UK) 50p or $1 per sprue of 4, plus postage, which seems a bit steep to me. Any better ideas?

The GW ones are decent, have tons with slots but got some of the unslotted (much better as I don't have ot fill the gaps in).

A cheap alternative is to get plain old hardboard, mark it out and cut it into 25 mill sections! ;)

Steel fender washers from a hardware store are usually in the eight to ten cents apiece range and work well, but may cause some damage to figures if they are thrown loose into a box and jostled around.

For cheap plastic bases poker chips can be used, or try a dollar store. There's usually some small, round and plastic pieces in the toy or game sections.

One of our players used bottlecaps from beer bottles. Word of warning though, they'll do damage to any vinyl battlemat.

Hope this helps.

Hello :)

You can get 20 bases for £1 from a UK company called 'em4 miniatures' ( www.em4miniatures.com ) - though they do have a slot cut into them.

They look very similar to the GW ones (judging by the pic's on their website) - so they might be worth considering.

Anyway, I hope that helps :D

I order laser-cut microplywood bases from a company called Litko Aerosystems. You can find their mini supplies here: http://www.litkoaero.com/mini_bases.php.

You can get 100 25mm bases for $12 plus shipping. They also have 40mm sizes for basing "large" minis, plus a slew of other sizes. The bases themselves feel pretty solid, and you can paint them of course. I actually like the look of the wood, as it almost blends into the battlemat that I use.

don't the slotta get sold in packs of 56 to 60? see if they will sell them in the big bags for 5 US / 3 pounds sterling, if not stick with the slotted, the buck a sprue is not worth it if you plan on rebasing a lot. plus that makes the bases more costly than the mageknights.

I might say stick with EM4 if they are cheaper though

BTW my favorite place to buy single minis is www.pjcc.com, they even ship internationally.
