Rebirth of Synnibarr

Not sure how much this has gotten around yet...
Is anyone else shocked/dismayed/pleasantly surprised by news of Synnibarr: Invicta?

Truth be told I didn't play the original game much - in the couple of full day events run years ago (at Game Days in Chicago/Mount Prospect), I recall us dedicating 4 hours to character creation alone leaving us the other 4 hour slot to try playing.

Raven cs McCracken claims he's simplified the system - all in all probably not a difficult thing to do given the calculus involved in the original - can it only end in tears and shredded reams of paper? Does anybody else remember this?

Well he met his goal. It's funded! Good for him and his backers. I must admit to curiosity about the game and it's designer.

GET. OUT.

Just goes to prove there's a flavor for everyone: Synnibarr reminds me of Beverly from "World of Coke" (If you get it, you get it, and if not, there's no way I can explain it).

I honestly never understood the hate for it. It's somewhat goofy and over the top with not so great rules. But so is Rifts. Heck, for old schoolers, so is Arduin, yet that gets a lot of love

Hiya.

I still stand my assertion that Synnibarr makes for the absolute *best* "anime" style game. Nothing screams anime to me more than "I fly up into orbit and then use my Venderant Naleberong pendant to blast the cultists before they finish their ritual...I do...5,250,000 points of damage!".

If the new version doesn't involve "10'ths" for armor reduction or have damage ratings that go into millions or billions of points...I'll stick with the original.

Good old 10ths...

Fingers crossed completely randomized character creation turns out as ridiculous as it used to be. Can you say 3 foot overweight Gnome who manages to have the charisma of a movie star? And when he claps, enemies instantly fall asleep.
