Oh, the monologue is the whole package. Trademarked Villains Inc. Power Word, ListenToMySpeech, wall of force, and all sorts of ways to guarantee the villain isn't a moron when he says "I have you right where I want you."
Honestly, though, villainous speeches only really work when the party has been captured, and the villain needs them to do something to help him fulfill his evil plan. You just don't give an evil speech when the heroes charge into your sanctum -- you've got to be in a position of authority, so your pride can be your downfall.
