Greetings,
I am starting a Play by Post game set in the 16th century Japanese Sengoku era. Sengoku means "Warring States", and refers to a peroid of Japanese history marked by nearly incessant civil warfare, jockeying for position by rival warlords and samurai clans, and a near total breakdown of the social order. The type of campaign that I wish to run would be like a gritty action packed samurai movie like The Seven Samurai, Yojimbo, or one of the Zatoichi series of films with a mixture a supernatural elements.
I am currently working on adapting the Grim Tales ruleset for this game, but I am also using the Sengoku rules by Gold Rush Games as a resource book. If you don't have Grim Tales, I can help you build your character. Knowledge of 3.0 and 3.5 D&D, and d20 Modern rules will get you through with little problem.
There will be magical and fantastic elements in the game. But I would consider this a low magic setting. Those with mystical powers are few and far between. Hopefully magic will have a mystical and fantastic feel to it.
Right now I want to gauge interest in the game. In a few days, I will post the character building guidelines along with more background information.
