RECRUITING - M&M On-Line One Shot

James_Nostack

First Post
What - I'm fairly new to Mutants & Masterminds, so I am going to conduct a one-shot storyline to familiarize myself with the game. To keep things simple, we will be using the pre-generated characters from the core book; the revised versions are available at http://www.mutantsandmasterminds.com/files/heroarchetypes.pdf

Who - 3-5 players with basic familiarity with Mutants & Masterminds. Lurkers are quite welcome.

When - Wednesday, August 18, 8:00 - 10:00 PM, Eastern Standard Time.

Where - In a gameroom of OpenRPG, a free piece of gaming software, available for download at http://www.openrpg.com. Since it takes some time to download, install, and learn, I strongly suggest DL'ing it ahead of gametime.

How - Send me an e-mail at james_nostack@hotmail.com if you are intersted. Include a your first three choices for Pre-Generated characters from the link above. While I respect your creativity at devising your own heroes, I'm still new to the game and want to streamline things as much as I can.

THE TRENTON ENIGMA

At 2:05 PM today, a series of explosions erupted on the campus of Rutgers University ("The State College of New Jersey"). At 2:16 PM, the city of Trenton, New Jersey vanished underneath what one eyewitness described as "a mirrored dome of godawful energy". Nothing has been able to get in or out; this was confirmed when the Amtrak R3 commuter train collided with the barrier and derailed, killing twelve people and injuring over 100 more. Telecommunications contact was severed with anyone and everyone inside the dome; radar overflights depict the city as a hemisphere several miles in diameter.

Visual contact was briefly regained at 2:32 PM: the dome flickered momentarily, and state police monitoring the situation reported seeing a "giant robot bug" pass out of the dome, which flew through the air heading northeast. The New Jersey Civil Air Patrol attempted to engage, but the creature emitted a ray of unknown energy and obliterated both aircraft before it was lost to radar contact. The state police outside the city caught only a glimpse of conditions inside the dome, but claim that the landscape is unrecognizable under a shroud of smoke and darkness. A police helicopter reported seeing dozens of monstrous insects scouring the city, flames reflected on their metallic carapaces, before the dome snapped back into place.

Rules of engagement prohibit a full-scale military response against a civilian population center, and conventional small-scale urban warfare or S.W.A.T. groups have severely limited utility againt unconventional forces such as these. The only card left to play is the superhumans. At the behest of the President of the United States, the National Emergency Management Organization (N.E.M.O.) has scrambled a team of superhuman field agents to restore order.

Whatever the cause of this disturbance, it's powerful enough to effectively conquer a major American city. It is quite possible that you won't survive. But there are eighty-five thousand people depending on you...

Two players are spoken and accounted for... Can we get a third, fourth, or fifth to round out the group? E-mail me at james_nostack@hotmail.com with your preferences for character archetypes.

I mean, I know New Jersey isn't the most popular state, but they need somebody to save them....
