RECRUITING: The Battle for Threshold Orbital (houseruled d20 modern)

Alexandros, the one who wanted to be a sniper is no longer in.
Are you going to pick the role or you are no longer interested? I am willing to take it (and infact, maybe the DM will allow two snipers...it would be a really interesting group then :) )

Kasrkin from Mythweavers. You know, you could both be "Snipers" so to speak, and do so in a way which lets you compliment the other's abilities.

One of you could be a designated marksman style character, that uses an accurate semi-automatic weapon, for countersniping and the suppression of those who get too close.

The other could use a higher caliber bolt action rifle for more proper "sniping", i.e. closer to the proper method of sniping practiced by real world sniper teams.

I'm not saying you have to, I'm saying you could without being clones of eachother.

I totally agree, sniper teams can be completely devastating on their own let alone with the support of others............. though it may deprive others of the kills that they are expecting to get;)

I try to reward good tactics. 2 snipers are lethal. Especialy if you have an MG and grenade launcher, pinning people down or forcing them to fall back while the guy with the shotgun sneaks up behind them.

Hmm

Well then, I am certainly taking the sniper role. If anyone wants to join the fun, he is warmly welcome :devil::devil:

Ugh...I am trying to start biting at chapter 2.2, but it seems that a load of work is required...I may modify the Fast hero instead of builing a new class from scratch.

I agree, multiple snipers could be devestating. But if you do it right, so can be two silent people in the dark with light automatic weapons. I've already made my character and backstory and, to be honest, I think I'll enjoy the more in-your-face playstyle that will accompany him rather than a sniper.

And, as OnlyTheStrong mentioned, he's my partner now. And I'd be a pretty crappy partner if I waited outside with a rifle while he crept through an enemy installation. ;)

Well, just don't take it too relaxed, because you risk finding all the enemies already dead :D

Jokes aside, my character is going to have full hide/move silently, probably with the shadow movement talent tree, so you may have company :)

This one:

I started building the class from scratch. So far, this is what I got: starting from 7 meta-class talents:
3 for Martial improvement, bringing the Bab progression to excellent
1 for Skill improvement
1 for flexible advancement
2 to be converted in hero points.

The general idea is to use the hero points at increasing hit die on the first level (when it gets maximized), and then for reflex save / defense bonus / bonus talents/feats in the following levels. I may end up greedily taking talents, so my reflex save and defense bonuses are probably going to be pretty weak. All in all, it's not going to be overpowered...just strange. Given the fact that I mean to stay out of harm's way, the low defenses may be acceptable. Besides, multiclassing in advanced classes may supplement that.

As for now, I am thinking about the shadow movement, sniper and cover awareness talent trees, and aside for weaponry, I have yet to pick the class feat tree. (funnily enough, I don't like the sniper talent tree: dead aim seems...boh).

As for the skills, I have 8 class skills and 6 skill points at each level (with 16 int). Probably hide, move silently, spot listen, knowledge(tactics), diplomacy. May spend a hero point on the first level to get two additional skills at 4 ranks each.

Errr...that's it for now. Yes, I really like messing up with classes
