I was pretty skeptical of the tokens that came in the red box. They looked flimsy from the pictures, and heck even picking up the full sheet and feeling it flop in my hand a bit didn't comfort me.
-BUT-
I popped the pogs out so that I could show my son how to play tonight, and noticed that they were remarkably sturdy and thicker than I thought. Not as thick as Dungeon Tiles but certainly thicker than my home made with cereal box tokens. And there was something else...
I noticed that the tokens weren't monster on one side, bloodied monster on the other. It's two different monsters, one per side. So how do you mark them as bloodied. I started thinking of chits, colors beads or something.. but the surface of the tokens felt similar to my Combat Pad. So I took the frame, and wrote in three kinds of markers: Dry, Wet and Permanent.
Dry: Wiped right off. Left a red marker on it for 20 minutes and it still wiped clean.
Wet: Came right off with a moist towel. Came clean 20 minutes later.
Permanent: Came right off. Came clean with some rubbing 20 minutes later.
Now I would not go using permanent, and I didn't have a red wet erase to test with, but this was an unexpected bonus, so I thought I would share what I found.
I can't wait for our game, my son is very excited for this adventure.
