D&D 5E Redemption Paladin

I honestly like this theme. Would make for a good paladin of Eldath (she has nurtured communities of goodly, peaceful orcs), or a Silverhair Knight of Eilistraee (they refuse to use lethal force except in extreme situations, need to atone after doing so, believe everyone can change life).

It'll likely be my favourite Oath, alongside Ancients.

Boggles my mind that so many people see that as the identity of the game.

Yeah, when it's origins are clearly 'outsmart them or kill them and take their stuff'.

I'm working on a Lawful Evil Oath of Redemption Paladin as a thought experiment, although I think he would be fun to play as a one off venture into the dark side. Does not like to kill his enemies in combat because they are far more useful to his God as ritual sacrifices. Maybe even more useful to his God if he can persuade them to volunteer themselves as sacrifices.
