This thread is the best thing that ever happened to the Shardmind. I like both flavour interpretations better than the "stock" one.

Another reason I can't take them seriously - every time I try to type their name, or even think of them, my brain substitutes "shartmind" which is much less appealing as a racial concept than a sentient crystalline being. Same with the Eberron items called Dragonshards.

I can see how that would be an impediment to taking the race seriously.
I am happy that my only issues was the Psionics thing. =)
