Consider this yoinked.

But, but, but, we didn't work out the kinks yet. You can't just go walking down the street yoinking half-baked ideas like that, scaring old ladies and babies. It's not right.

What kinks? Initiative was lame beforehand. Now it's gravy. Little old ladies and babies should not be playing this game in the first place. Trendsetters do not sit around collecting dust waiting for oblivion. We yoink with impertinence and impatience! Ole!

So, Paladins now have good initiative?

A mid level paladin (L6) took lightning reflexes, has a 16 CHA, and a 12 DEX. He has a Cloak of charisma+2 and a ring of resitance +2

He would have a +11 to initiative?

That does not seem right...

See, ConcreteBuddha? A kink.

I think the proper solution to these kinds of things would be Base Reflex Save + Lightning Reflexes (if applicable) + Dex bonus. Though I could see an argument that the paladin's charisma bonus applies, as it represents power and certainty from his his god, allowing him to smite evildoers faster :)

Or, to not use this at all, but I just like fiddling with rules.

I have no problem with this. That's not a kink, it's a feature. Divine insight and all of that. (Besides, taking LR is a suboptimal choice most of the time. What paladin in their right mind is going to take that feat?)

The L6 Rogue is going to have LR, a 16 Dex, Gloves of Dex +2, and a ring of res +2: a total of a +13 initiative.

Again, no problem with that.

Your fears are unfounded! YOINK! ;)

Since it's effectively LR and improved initiative under this system, it becomes less suboptimal than before. Good at low levels, not so good at high levels, but a lot of feats are like that (whoo-hoo, weapon focus gives me a +1 to hit :) )
