STAR WARS
REGINA CAYLI
REGINA CAYLI

New Bakstre rotates rapidly, the sun and seven moons move at visible speed across its purplish sky. The sun sets slowly behind the Regina Cayli, an M-Class Imperial Attack Transport, which casts its long shadow across New Bakstre's twisted vegetation. I study it from my hiding place, a dozen meters distant, shivering slightly in the chill air.
The landing ramp is open, and for the moment, unguarded.
I bolt from cover. My heart is pounding in my ears. I run across the clearing, dash up the ramp, into the dark cargo bay of the Imperial ship....
WHO AM I?
My name is Roark Garnet. I'm what you might call a galactic entrepreneur. I'm the captain of the Dorian Discus, and I was making what you might call an unscheduled delivery on New Bakstre when I ran into that Imperial Attack Transport. What in the seven moons where they doing here? The Empire has no interests this far out in the New Territories. The Emperor seems to be tightening his grip, squeezing out every credit he can from every place possible. Well, that's usually OK with me. That's how I make a living. It's my business knowing how to step around these Imperial entanglements.
But, this time, they caught me by surprise. The cruiser forced me down, and we hit the forest hard. The transport grounded itself not far from our crash point, and a squad of men in white quickly combed the area. They captured Hawk. It looked like they wounded him, too. Hawk Carrow is my co-pilot.
Now, I'll tell you. I don't give two hoots about the Rebellion or the Empire. But, there's not way that I'm going to abandon Hawk to the tender mercies of the Imperial Interrogators.
I trailed them back to their ship, then I bolt from cover....

Star Wars character creation is very easy. You can do it in a hand full of minutes. I'm using the first edition rule set for this adventure, and I'm only using the core rulebook. It's all you need to play a Star Wars game.
Players are given two choices for creating characters in this edition of the rules. The first method is to take an established character template, provided in the core rules, and customize it. The second method is to create your own template first, then customize it for an individual character.
I'm just going to go quickest method--the first one.
I take the Smuggler template. It gives me the character's attributes, starting equipment, and a general background. I can, of course, change anything I want, if the need suits me, to create a totally unique individual.
Once I have selected the template, I am given 7D to distribute among the character's skills (which are listed on the template). This Star Wars game only uses six sided dice. The base throw for each of the skills is that listed for the governing attribute. When improving skills, the dice add to that attribute base.
No skill can gain more than 2D. I'll add 2D to Blaster and 1D to Dodge. I'll add 2D to Starship Piloting. 1D goes to Bargain and another to Brawling. That's 7D. I'm done. I just fill in the character details as I see the character in my mind's eye, and I'm ready to play.
That's how quick you can start Star Wars gaming.
