Reign of Fire - what have you heard?

I chafe of these acid fans.
I'm glad to see its box office take declining rapidly, though not rapidly enough.
Sooo, you take happiness in that a sci fi/fantasy movie you didn't like is rapidly declining in box office? Do I need to point out what's pathetic about this?

I suggest you migrate to China.
Emigrate.

If Reign of Fire were even average, it'd be much, MUCH better than AOTC.
You forgot the "IMO", or more appropriately, "IMHO".

Majority of the country liked? Where did you get that gem?
From that the majority of the country liked it. Really. You and two more coffee house buddies may sit around and talk trash about how George Lucas doesn't know how to make cereal anymore, but it was a very widely well-received movie. Check Rottentomatoes.com. Even the critics- people who are PAID to know movies beyond the ken of fans- liked it in majority.

What trash is there to talk? You're going to wave a '60% of ppl' liked it so I have to like it?

The rapid decline in box office just shows how bad the movie is. Lucas will still have his billions anyhow, but a bad movie, even with boffo box office, is still a BAD movie.

Add a IMO yourself to my opinion/posts if it irks you that badly.

*shrug* Such is the nature of fandom, really.

It is, in part, their own fault - they helped create the hype. They count on it to boost ticket sales. And when, inevitably, they fail to please everyone, they've set some of the viewers up for a great letdown.

Plus, it's in fashion to criticize successful people. That's simply the nature of fame.

Uh, NO. Remember when you said "Majority of the country liked? Where did you get that gem?" Remember that? That's why I'm "waving" that the majority of the country liked it.

Umbran, you're right- it's just a tragic thing for me. I want to like most geeks, really. It's with the comic book guy from the Simpsons archetype, here, that I find most repellent.

Uh, Doc, people used to say that about a D&D movie too. Look what that got us.
Point taken. Ugh.

Yeah, I know. They're such a bother. Can't use any critical thought and just lick up whatever's fed to them. ;)

Lucas is still successful even though AOTC is a crappy ('unsuccessful') movie. I just wish he'd produce Ep III and resist writing anymore dialogue that would make a Bollywood movie look like a Booker Prize candidate.

This rather depends on your definition of success. Looking at the box office totals, the movie looks pretty darned successful. It's making money. Lots of people have seen it. A couple hundred million dollars is kinda of hard to call "unsuccessful". I suppose if success is defined as "Krug likes it", then it's unsuccessful. But, by most measures we usually use today, the movie is doing far better than most.

Whether or not you made the comment as a joke, I have to disagree with your "critical thought" comment. Not agreeing with you hardly constitutes unquestioning acceptance of all media.

While the Doc's characterization may be hasty, his position does point out something. So far, you haven't really offered us much of the thought behind your criticizm. You vehemently hold forth that it is bad, but beyond that you don't give us much food for thought. Accepting your blunt, unsupported assertion would be as unthinking as accepting the movie like a mindless drone.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: AICN has a review...

Sorry Krud, freedom of speech does NOT apply to private property which this website happens to be. I may not be allwoed to censure you but if anyone did there would be no violation of rights. Then again you know this. Pathetic trolls like you quite often bring out this arguement on the web after you act like pathetic pricks and irritate everyone else.

Oh yeah, AOTC is dropping in income its brought in a mere $230 plus million dollars in the 18 days it has been out. What a tragedy. Charted out it is doing as well as TPM, not as well as Spiderman but better than Titanic or Harry Potter. So I guess your comments prove at least one thing.

You have not a single clue what you are talking about. Go home little boy.

Sorry. I speak my mind. Last time I looked, freedom of speech was one of the core ideas of 'the country'.

If you have problems with people expressing their opinions, I suggest you migrate to China.

And 'look more sophisticated' for trashing a movie? Who would even bother?

AOTC is a piece of crap - the love story was banal, the fight scenes were boring and the whole story sucked. I'm glad to see its box office take declining rapidly, though not rapidly enough.

If Reign of Fire were even average, it'd be much, MUCH better than AOTC. And no need to suffer fanboys who get a piece of s*** thrown in their face and say its chocolate cake.

Guys like Krud are not fans, they are generally neuvo a$$holes who like to be cool by dissing stuff. They are like old REM fans who stopped liking REM when the average person discovered them and REM went huge. All of a sudden REM was no longer cool so they started insulting it.

Well Krud's road to "coolsville" is making shallow pointless comments filled with bile and ignorance.

My gawd, is this the playground? Ganging up to reinforce each other's views because I disagree with you? The name calling ("Krud")? And now the a$$-words. PLEASE.

I've put forth my views already. You haven't bothered to look. Let me repeat myself. You might want to increase the font in your browser because I know you have a hard time seeing it. Nevermind, I bolded it for you. I know how people of small minds are when they see somethign they don't like. They just skip over it. So here it goes... again.

The action sucks, the love story is BANAL, the dialogue is trite.

I've said so before. It's out there. I'm sorry you guys flunked at comprehension.

If you put your brains in gear you could find it. Fine, Ban me, censor me; do it. Star Wars Nazis. Hey that would make a great action figure. :D
