Reimagining Keep on the Borderlands

So I saw the add for "caverns of chaos" which seems to be inspired by the Caves of Chaos, but far more extensive. I then perused the 01 maps and found the Hill of Many Dungeons. I thought if you were to choose only one enterance of that one, and stack the rest beneath it, you would have a great expanded Caverns of Quasqueton.

So what other resources could we bring to bear to reimagine Keep on the Borderlands and In Search of the Unknown?

build a village around the Keep. name it... Hommlet. the Keep is still under construction by Burne(Advisor) and Rufus(Castellan) and the Badgers (Guard of the Keep)

the old Keep is now a ruined moathouse set off the trail in the woods.

the old moathouse sits atop a series of catacombs which lead to a series of caverns.

the humanoids are making raids from the moathouse/Old Keep under the direction of the evil priest of Chaos... Lareth the Beautiful.

Yes the love of the T series lives.
1st DnD experience was going through all of that.

I'm running two sessions of this over in PBP right now...gotta love T1.
 

other possible reimage:

Quasqueton is the name of an old estate. kinda like Tara is for Gone with the Wind.

but this is a coastal estate. long ago the family who owned the estate faded from existence. but thru hard work and dedication someone in the town of Saltmarsh found the true owner. one of the PCs.

the caverns are below the estate. they were carved in the rock by the sea.

then you don't need a Keep. but you have the town of Saltmarsh for all the essentials.
 



Use this one AFTER the party clears out the Caves of Chaos and leaves the region.

PC information
On their way back to the Keep, they hear tale of none leaving or traveling from the keep for many days or weeks. A ranger and barbarian, striking it out in the wild while the rest of their party entered and never exited, speak of many different creatures working together near the walls of the keep!

DM Hook
Monsters united by a strange force have taken the Keep on the Borderlands. The surviving Humans and demihumans have fled into the caves and are now taking refuge there. The foulest areas of the caves seem to have been buried, though deep within the shrine of Evil Chaos, lies the means to take back the keep!

After a short while of building their forces they took the keep because of it’s defensible nature, though not before having the most detestable areas of the cave buried, hoping to leave whatever was in there buried forever.[/sblock]
