RPG Print News – Fragging Unicorns, Goodman Games, and More

A fantasy cyberpunk RPG, Xcrawl Classics, D&D 5E, The Terror Beneath, and Mothership all have print products out this week.

Fragging Unicorns is an awesome name for a game company and we should all buy from them to keep them in business and making more RPGs. This week, they offer a fantasy cyberpunk RPG driven by PC choice. Xcrawl Classics is available as one big package or individual adventures are available. Dungeons & Dragons Fifth Edition gets an additional setting for Grim Hollow. Finally, The Terror Beneath is a new horror setting and Mothership gets a PC film makers supplement.

The Terror Beneath by Osprey Games
  • SYSTEM: GUMSHOE
  • PRODUCT TYPE: hardcover core rules
  • RETAIL PRICE: $35
  • DESCRIPTION: PCs investigate horrors both ancient and modern in a world inspired by the works of Arthur Machen. PCs face the machinations of hidden cults, the creations of mad scientists, and the unknowable motives of ancient terrors. At the dawn of the 20th century, in the depths of the British countryside, cults celebrate ancient rites, beasts of legend emerge from their lairs, and powerful beings of folklore and myth stir once more. In the urban sprawl of cities, secret societies struggle for dominance, rogue alchemists pursue occult ambitions, and scientists fuse modern technology with ancient mysticism to create new horrors. The rules place less emphasis on finding clues and more on interpreting them correctly to keep the PCs moving forward.

ARKYVR by Alewood Games
  • SYSTEM: Mothership
  • PRODUCT TYPE: softcover supplement
  • RETAIL PRICE: $25
  • DESCRIPTION: The PCs shoot footage, not guns. They use their film making craft to shift the balance of power in the universe if they live long enough to tell the story. As documentary crews, PCs put their lives and sanity on the line to make a movie in an alien infested kill zone. The PCs choose what stories to follow and which moments to record. If they survive their film shoot, they must decide how to distribute the footage: either get paid to cover it up or sell it to someone looking to start a revolution. Features new game mechanics, skill trees, gear, and character classes specifically for film production and media restoration. There are also plenty of guides, story seeds, and tables to help facilitate horrific documentary style adventures including a mission generator. A GM and PCs can replay old modules from a different perspective with former PCs becoming NPCs for the PCs documentary crew to interview and film.
