Relic Hunters in Tekumel (IC)

Angelina slips off her mule, on alert. "I'm not sure animals alone could take down this little party but either way, let's all be on guard." While Zephia goes to check out the bodies, Angelina approaches the fallen liter very cautiously.

[section]Briony adjusted her breastplate and unsheathed her two-handed sword. Even in the dull light of the afternoon, the blade gleamed brightly. She strode up to join Zephia next to the bloated corpses, picking up a stick on her way, and crouched beside a corpse. Nudging the dead body with the blunt end of the stick, Briony grunted in disgust at the swarm of flies. "Gods. What a way to go. See anything?" Briony peered up at Zephia.[/section]

Bella remains on her mount for a little extra height advantage and to look around. If she spots trouble she'll dismount and warn the others.

Zephia, Briony and Angelina move on ahead. There are three humanoid dead bodies, the two face down guards and a third well-dressed Tsoylani overweight, elderly woman inside the litter. Zephia finds that one guard has numerous lacerations along his unarmored neck and face while the second has his face nearly chewed off. Angelina sees that the woman has numerous piercing wounds along her body, as if stabbed in several places. Further, there is unexpected damage along the weak doorframe of the litter, and you find several bloody fingernails of hers dug near the doorframe, as if she was trying frantically to stay inside the litter. Briony sees several sandals on the ground that likely came from the porters carrying the litter. One of them is covered in blood, but you still see no signs of the porters' bodies.

OOC: Everyone make an Intelligence check, challenge level 1. This is your first in game SIEGE check, so let me explain how this works. Those who have Intelligence as a Prime Attribute will roll with a base of 12. Those that do not have a base roll of 18. Add the challenge level to your base to get the overall check you need to pass.

Let's use Angelina with her 18 Intelligence as an example. Adding the challenge level in means that Angelina needs to roll a d20 and make or exceed the base roll plus the challenge level.

12 (base) plus 1 (Challenge Level) results in a 13. She now needs to roll a d20 and add 6 (+3 for her character level, +3 for her Intelligence modifier) and try to make the 13.

Everyone who does not have Intelligence as a Prime Attribute needs to roll against an 18 (base) plus 1 (challenge level), or 19.
It seems like a complicated system at first, but it gets easy once you get used to it. The SIEGE engine is used for saving throws, skill checks, and so on.

OOC: My apologies but that went completely over my head. Here's my Intelligence roll - [roll0]

OOC: :)

Ok, it looks like you rolled a natural 18. Since Intelligence is a Prime Attribute for you, you need to make a 13 on your check (12 base plus 1 for challenge level). You get a +3 bonus for your character level, and a plus one bonus from your attribute modifier, as your intelligence is 14 which gives a modifier of +1. 18+3+1 equals 22, and you exceeded the check by 9 points.

OOC: Yes you did it correctly. Wow, Angelina nailed it. I'll give the others a chance to practice before moving this along. Really just wanted to practice the SIEGE engine before the action started.
