Remaking Remakes: The Fly

This is not a current thing, Hollywood has always done remakes. I think the problem with it is that when it is made, it is being made for the current movie goer demographic, so this one will be a PG-13 movie.

Yeah, but this is a remake of a remake (or 3rd remake), which is relatively rare. I can only think of King Kong as the other one. (I can think of some done more than that, but those were based on famous books, like Dracula).

And by today's standards, the original would be G probably, yet I find it far, far creepier than the remake.

So? Organic grotesqueries and copious amounts of ichors can be done in PG-13. Not like there won’t be an R-rated dvd version.

Actually, Hollyweird used to reremake movies all the time. They just had the good sense back then to rename them.

I'd love to see a PG-13 version of the Fly - and have him fight crime

Beware ye Evil Doers or face the vomit of The Fly MWAHAHAHAHA!

Not the first remade remake, either.... Though at least Peter Jackson remade King Kong because he really likes it....

The Auld Grump, how many times has Donovan's Brain been remade? The Invasion of the Body Snatchers?

I thought Cronenberg's version of The Fly was brilliant. It does not need to be remade.

The Thing is on the list of remakes to be remade - but I would rather John Carpenter's was left alone.

As for less wonderful Horror Movies that deserve a remake - I think The Legacy could definitely use a remake. After thirty years - it would be much better film too (the original could have used a lot of work).

To be clear - not a remake of a remake - just a remake :)

I don't know about Donovan's Brain, but three remakes for Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956)
Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978)
Body Snatchers (1993)
Invasion (2007)
