Removing permanent marker from a battlemap

I posted earlier from my phone, so I was probably too brief. Seriously, engine degreaser really works 100% of the time. I guarantee it or I'll buy him a new mat (Those who have gotten books from me know I'm good for it). A can should run 8 bucks or so, and will be good to have around if it ever happens again.

I've had good results with hairspray, baking soda, and a toothbrush. Spray the hairspray on, sprinkle the soda, and scrub like crazy.

I hope it wasn't a red marker...that stuff is impossible to get out of anything.

I had really good results with candle wax once.

I left it at someone's house after a game, they had a candle-lit dinner without rolling it up, the wax spilled, and after I got it scraped off the wax-covered patches were pristine. It just sucked all the dirt right up. (including some mistakes that wouldn't come off before)

Of course, it's not exactly a practical approach to any large stains.

yeah this worked for me too.

i used Gunk Off.

acetone is a big no no for long exposure. it will ruin the mat.

I've directed him to this thread so hopefully one of the methods will work. It was a purple marker and used over nearly all of the mat.
