You can also try using heat to melt the glue. I usually use one of those microwave heatpads, although you could also try using a hairdryer or a towel fresh from the dryer.

This is what I did. In my case, I have a heat gun that I used, but a hairdryer should suffice.

The label should come off with no problem with this trick. A stripper like Goo Gone might damage the cover's finish.

Maybe I should get the thing after all...

I soaked my book in gas and then burned the sticker off. There was nothing left of the sticker, it worked great. Goo Gone and Acetone both will work great.

I've used Goo Gone on gaming books for years without any problems. As has been mentioned, as long as the surface isn't porous/absorbent it shouldn't soak into the material -- the hardcover WotC books should be fine, in other words.

I generally wipe the Goo Gone'd area with a little water afterwards, just to remove the strong lemony smell and any trace of the stuff itself. But I'm just anal like that.

I left my BoVD warning sticker on, mainly because I think it's humorous given how tame the book generally is.

I used a hammer and chisel. Worked for me.

After I bought a second copy, I used a light application of Goo Gone and a cheesecloth, and it did not harm the book.

Mine came off with a little effort. There is no trace of the sticker ever being on my cover. Took me about an hour to get the darn thing off without adhesive removers. I would go with Goo be gone next time. Should only take 10min to get it off with goo be gone.

Goo Gone works great on some stuff. i use it at work. Hasn't anyone tired the old fashion steam method?

Goo Gone! It's just as fabulous as duct tape. One sticks, the other unsticks. Oh, yeah.

My girly's hairdryer did the trick for me, no more sticker, no more residue.
