Repops of Old School Figs?

Was checking this shop out, and he has quite a lot of old Grenadier figures that I guess they're redoing. And they're going at quite a reasonable rate.

Now it says they're 25mm and cast in tin. I dont know anything about scale...is that scale par with DDM minis. And "cast in tin"...is that the same as what other companies like Reaper use?

I'm seriously considering picking up a large whack of these. They don't look as sweet as some of the stuff Reaper is doing, but you can get a set of 20 for 25 bucks. You cant beat that, unless I'm missing something.

(I know this might seem like spam, but since the shop was linked to ENWorld as a sponsor here a couple days ago, I figured it was OK.)

Megaminis / Discount hobby / Draggletown is on the level last i checked. They used to be a much bigger company though.

The figs are not soft, I'd say they are harder than reaper's lead free mix, notably harder than classic lead mixes.

Grenadier figs are usually not victims of scale creep. Most will look better based on 20mm / pennies than 25mm / 1 inch bases. DDM scale is all over the place being somewhere between 28mm to 32mm most of the time with some figs even falling outside that sliding scale. Most can work together, but some 25mm may look like short humans or oversized halflings.

I just bought a bunch of these last week and am buying more after they arrived today. I am very happy with these figs. The skeletons I bought look just fine next to my Reaper 28mm ones.

Thanks for the tips. I'm not a scale monster. Don't really care as long as they're in the ballpark and you can play D&D with em. I was only wondering because if I set an average Reaper PC type against an average DDM PC type, the Reapers are usually a little bigger. (But then, I can still count my Reaper collection on 2 hands and still have fingers left over...so maybe my take is not so accurate)

But if I'm correct, Reaper's scale is the bigger, then WOTCs, then these Grenadier ones? Or have I got it wrong?

Oh and I have a little collection of GWs Moria Gobs, Warg Riders, and Uruk Hais...not sure where they fit in, but the Uruk Hais are smaller than wotc orcs. Not sure what scale the GW LOTR figs are.

Regardless, your recommendations are good enough for me. I have to be more frugal these days, and that's a pretty decent price.
