Representing flying on the battle mat?

I can run that Wizard of Oz flying monkey scenario now... or, have dozens of bat swarms if the party visits Castle Dracula. ;=)

D'Karr great idea, but a $150 minimum order would lead my wife to kill me instantly - and then get really angry.

Yeah, my wife would kill me too, but that was just an example. Do a search on clear styrene boxes and you'll find quite a few places that have them at much reasonable prices.

Does anybody else use something that is cheap & easy (and relatively stable) to represent flying miniatures?

I just use large casino D6 with the face up pip representing 10's of feet if that is the scale.

Indeed. The entire pack fits inside a little plastic shoebox case. Even for impromptu encounters they assemble pretty quick. There's really only about 5 or 6 core pieces to it, so grabbing them and popping them together is a snap. Great for gauging underwater depth as well!

Being good friends with the inventor, I use Doctor Wizard's Patented Elevation Indicators which are a great way of showing either elevation or depth. I also use the Large and Huge Extenders for my bigger figs, or sometimes as a flying carpet. They work great, are easy to use, and quick to see how high a figure is flying.
