D&D 5E Reprints I Would 100% Buy (Map Folio)

The thread about the original FR boxed set inspired this. It was something I was thinking about last week.

I would like to buy a map folio that has reprints of the maps for the various TSR worlds. THis is because the boxed sets are getting pricey now especially if you don't live in the USA, the new high quality PDFs have shrunk the maps and the older PDFs form 1)+ years ago are not the best quality for maps.

I have the old Dragon maps of FR, Eberon, and Greyhawk but additional copies are always nice and others probably do not have them.

Each map folio could have 3-5 world maps on them. The 1st one could have the 5 most poplar settings on it (FR, Darksun, Eberron, Planescape, Greyhawk IIRC) and you could also do an FR one with maps from the 1E,2E,3E and 4E era's . Dragonlance and Ravenloft would also be in there throw in another 4 worlds and you have 10- thats 2 products of 5 worlds and you could have a 3rd FR one with 5 maps in it easy (1E-5E maps).

Another way of doing it could be 2 popular worlds combined with a less popular one or have a themed one such as Greyhawk, Dragonlance+Known World maps representing the 1E worlds. Darksun could also have 3 poster maps- the original and the expanded world from the revised boxed set.

Maps I would exclude would be worlds that do not have a poster map and maps like Spelljammers tactical maps.

I would be interested in the Darlene maps (and so would alot of others), but that is about it. I'm good on FR with my originals and 2e versions.

I think it's a cool idea, though initially when I saw the thread title, I thought this was about those 3.5 map folios :)

Now you've given me the urge to break out all my FRx accessories and cover the floor with a huge constructed piecemeal map of the Realms again (other than FR10 and FR16 with their weird non-standard scales). It annoys me to this day that they changed map styles after a point, and the map from The Vilhon Reach (which was the only map covering a new area after the style change) can't be put with the rest since it looks so different. I'd love a folio of maps that completely covered the setting. But, as that's not likely to happen, I'd like to see a full-sized poster map of the setting done by Mike Schley - basically just expanding on the really nice maps in SCAG and SKT to cover the entirety of Faerun...

I wouldn't buy a Schley map in a large size. His maps are too busy. They are fine for a small area or a village.

There is a place you can buy vinyl banners online. I was thinking of using the nice fan made Mystara map (not the KoA one in this post. It's not very good) and getting a vinyl map.

Not to be Mr. Negative, but those are some darn ugly maps. If WOTC reprints them, they need to update them to current standards.

Agreed.
I disagree, for the time, especially considering the cost of both multicolored printing and printing in that size, they were very well done. I find nothing wrong with the style. I actually find the 5th ed maps lacking a certain something.

No question - I loved the Known World map when it came out. It was functional and reminded me somewhat of the mono-color maps put out by Judges Guild that I liked so much (and still like).

Nowadays I prefer the more understated, muted-color maps put out by WOTC, but nothing wrong if someone prefers the older ones from TSR.
