I'd like to purchase a community supporter account for Mycanid, but can't pay using the traditional channels.

Can I write a check? Who do I make it out to and where do I send it?

I don't think we have any way, short of credit cards or paypal. I'm not really set up to take other people's checks on Russ' behalf myself, and the only other thing I can think of are those pre-paid credit cards you can get from convenience stores.

Write the check on a small, green piece of paper suitable for use as currency. Hand deliver it to me, and I'll buy Mycanid a membership :D

If I recall correctly, the reason checks aren't accepted, at least from non-British countries, is that Morrus' bank charges a fee for him to cash foreign checks. I'm not sure what that fee is, or if it can be compensated for by the person sending the check.

I refuse to use Paypal, so I've been stopped from donating/buying a CS account as well. For those that are inevitably going to mention it, using the credit option still sends it through Paypal. I refuse to support (what amounts to) a non-FDIC endorsed bank. If there were any other way, I would definitely give money.

But does PayPal get any money if you use the credit option? If not, there's no tangible support involved...

Basically, yeah. A hefty fee and about a month's delay! Unless the cheque is really big, I'm probably better off not making the trip to the bank!

Someone pointed out to me that, while US dollar bills aren't any use here, I can just stick it in my wallet for a few months, and pull it out when at GenCon in August. But sending actual currency isn't probably advisable.

And someone else suggested money orders - I've never used one, so I don't know what that entails or what I do with it.

I think, in that case, the best option is for people to buy an ENP product. Obviously, I don't get very much of the money that way, but I can't think of anything else!

I've thought about sending pounds in the mail, but yeah, not advisable.

Paypal gets my credit information. I'm certainly not giving them that.

Hmmm. Trying to think creatively, although there are more steps involved. What about buying a $20 debit card at a convenience store, and using that?

That is good avice. This way you avoid encouraging ppl to break the law. As far as I remember local law here in Finland forbids sending cash in mail abroad.

Money transfer as I understand it (within EU) is free of extra charges. It transfers money from one bank account to another one. It has to be done with IBAN and SWIFT/BIC codes that every European bank have. Check from your local bank for British details. (I have understood that you live in UK).

Payment takes 2-6 days. and to qualify as EU payment following are needed (in Finalnd):
Both need to have bank account in EU country
Payment is less than 50 000
Payers name is given
Receivers name is given
Receivers bank is given with SWIFT (no other informaion)
Receivers bank account number is given in IBAN syntax
Both take care of service fees of own bank
