request for some prestige classes: Summoner and Lycanthrope hunter

Hi Everyone,

Don't forget the Alienist from 3.5 Complete Arcane (as well as 3rd ed. Tome and Blood) in terms of a prestige summoner. Have a read of Sep's story hour and read up on Mostin - dare I say the most famous Alienist on these boards. If however you are waiting for Sep's next installment like half the board, you could read The Happenings of Lucifus Cray instead if you want some fun alienist goodness: see my sig. for further details. :D

Kigmatzomat,

Looks like a really good take on a prestige summoner. The only trouble is (in terms of our DM at least) that there are no penalties, only bonuses meaning its a little unbalanced compared to similar classes. However, you have lots of very interesting ideas: Faster Summoning and Summon Horde in particular.

Best Regards

I dunno, losing 2 casting levels (2nd & 7th) is a bit of a penalty. The Expert Summoning counteracts the caster level issue to a limited degree, but you're a spell level behind the other casters which means the creatures of the summoner's highest spell level aren't any tougher than the creatures of the non-summoner's highest spell level. You'll have a bit of trouble getting through SR with direct attack spells which pretty much forces you into your niche.

I briefly thought about dropping another caster level but that meant sorcerors wouldn't get 9th level spells by 20th level. You could drop off the familiar abilities but I think that adds a good amount of flavor to the class without adding any direct power.
