Resist poison and secondary effects

Ok, there's the creatures we fought last night (imps and spiked devil).
Anyway, one of them cause 5 ongoing poison and slow, save ends both.
Since save ends both, it seems logical to me that the slow is part of the effect of the same poison. And there was a character who got resistance poison 5. So he's immune to the damage of the poison... shouldn't he be immune to the slow effect since the poison doesn't affect him ? I'm pretty sure RAW he's still affected by the slow (that's what we ruled), but it seems logical to me that if he's not affected by the damage, he's not slowed (the poison don't affect him).

It does effect him, he's just not damaged by it. Resistance, even if it's more than the damage, is not an immunity.

What if it was a poison effect with no damage? His resistance wouldn't even qualify to show up for the party.

Well then that brings another question : is someone immuned to poison damage would be slowed ? By RAW, YES! Here's why I found it a bit wierd.

I meant to add more to that post, but I guess I submitted before then.

It's not weird. He's overly resistant to the damage, he has nothing to prevent the effect. If it was simply a poison effect with no damage, then his resistance wouldn't even show up for the party. What would be weird is that by adding damage to it, the effect suddenly doesn't work?

If it has multiple components, you need to resist or be immune to all of them. Just resisting/being immune to 1 isn't going to stop everything.

No because RAW says otherwise.:

Immune
: The monster has immunity to the stated kind of damage or effect. For example, a monster with “immune poison” never takes poison damage and can’t suffer any other ill effect from a poison attack.
