Resist vs vulnerable

Can anyone refer me to a manual or compendium rule that clearly states how do resistance and vulnerability stack ?

Ex: I have 30 resist fire, I get affected by vulnerable 12 fire, how much damage would I get from an attack of 1 fire dmg, 13 fire dmg and 31 fire dmg.

Basically which one is counted first, and/or does the vulnerable overlap the resistance for it's duration?

Vulnerabilty increases damage by the given value if the damage has the same type. You then subtract the resistance from the new damage value.

Resist Fire 30 and Vulnerabilty Fire 12:
The target is attacked with a power that deals exactly 1 fire damage.
1 + 12 = 13
13 - 30 = <0 therefore 0 damage.
An attack must deal at least 19 fire damage to deal 1 point of damage to the target.

Attack triggers vuln. >> add attack damage and vuln. together >> subtract resi >> deal damage

I feel like this question has been answered somewhere, but it's not in the compendium entries for vulnerable and resist, so I don't know where... Possibly in a FAQ somewhere?

In any case, both vulnerable and resist take full effect, so the final damage for an attack would be:

[Damage + Vulnerable - Resist] or 0, whichever is higher (i.e. an attack can't do negative damage).

In practical terms, you'd just subtract the lower trait from the higher one; for your example of resist 30 fire and vulnerable 12 fire, you would have a net of resist 18 fire.

Which mostly just means you can't do tricks like:

Okay, fighting a Beholder Eye of Flame... it's made me:
Ongoing 5 Fire
Vulnerable 10 Fire
but, I have resist 5 fire... so I'll apply that to the ongoing so I take 0 fire damage, not triggering the vulnerable.

Doesn't work that way, have to take the 10 fire every round :)
