Resizing Armor

Alrighty, so we found a suit of Masterwork Studded Leather and I want to resize it for our halfling rogue. I couldn't find anything in the PHB about resizing armor. Anyone know where I could find the rules for it?

Thanks

The best way to resize armor is to buy a new suit of armor. Armor sized for a medium creature will conform to fit any medium creature, but it won't fit a large or small creature.

Nothing in the core rules. You'll have to make up your own rules (if you allow it) or use some supplement. Personally, I just wouldn't allow it, since the craftsman would basically have to take the raw materials and start from scratch anyway.

We tend to allow it (houseruling) with a modest cost--usually about 10% of the masterwork suit's cost. We don't like the magic item marketplace, so we want items found to be as useful as possible to the party; allowing cheapo resizing is one way to do that, even if it's not terribly realistic.

As dcollins said, the masterwork quality is destroyed by the resizing, so I personally would make it cost a majority of the cost (at least the masterwork cost, plus some fraction of the cost of a new suit.)

It's too bad that wasn't a suit of studded leather armor +1. If it were, you could try arguing that it's magical and resizes to fit the wearer.

No, you couldn't.

SIZE AND MAGIC ITEMS
When an article of magic clothing or jewelry is discovered, most of the time size shouldn’t be an issue. Many magic garments are made to be easily adjustable, or they adjust themselves magically to the wearer. Size should not keep characters of various kinds from using magic items.

There may be rare exceptions, especially with racial specific items.

Armor and Weapon Sizes: Armor and weapons that are found at random have a 30% chance of being Small (01–30), a 60% chance of being Medium (31–90), and a 10% chance of being any other size (91–100).

There aren't any official rules on this, as far as I know.

As a House Rule, I'd probably allow it to be resized for one-half the cost of the target armor, at the loss of the masterwork quality (you're no longer dealing with pieces of leather specifically cut to specs, but more of a piecemeal suit.) I'd also require the source armor to be at least one size category larger than the target size.

Check out the cantrip called Resize (Dragon Mag. #302 p51)which "Permanently alters a nonmagical suit of clothes or armor by shrinking or enlarging it by one size category."

Not core rules, but WOTC material. Pretty nifty spell.

I would have the pc sell the masterwork item and buy one for their size. There is no rule for it, but the phb gives the price for both items and I believe they leave it up to the interpretation of the pcs. I wouldn't create a houserule for it because it is not broken.
