Resources for rules on geography & terrain placement

Does anyone know of any good online resources with information on how mountains, forests, bodies of water, wind patterns, ocean currents, deserts, continental plates, latitude, etc. interact? Anything to help with making a world map more realistic from a geological/ecological perspective would be greatly appreciated.
