Ressurecting wierd Undead

Ressurection will restore an undead creature to the living creature it was before.

What that is isn't entirely clear for some of the new wierd undead, like the Vausthant from MMIII.

Suggestions? Other candiates for this question?

Hi!

Sorry, I didn't get your question. What is it you want to know?

Kind regards

Personally I think it wouldn't work, since most of those "undead" come from some plane and are not truly a once-dead creature brought into undeath.

Incorrect. Perhaps you meant that resurrection will restore a creature if it becomes undead but the undead is destroyed.

What is a vausthant, and why is it problematic?

*shrug* it's a matter of taste, really - one of the defining characteristics of the traditional undead is that they were one living beings - if you look at the epic spell rules, you can make a spell to turn virtually any corpse into virtually any undead critter - for the most part, simply pick an intelligent creature (if you are the GM) that's similar in form (similar size and basic body types - e.g., a large skeletal devourer might become a troll) (for corporeal undead - incorporeal undead pick any intelligent critter, as the body wasn't what was important).
