Sort of funny...a journalist at Reason (an American libertarian website/magazine) did a Freedom of Information request for all FBI records on TSR (why, I don't know). Here he shares what they sent him, including an amusing profile of Gary Gygax with some choice quotes.
An FBI source in the report alleges that Gygax was "eccentric and frightening," carried a weapon, proudly responded to every letter he received from an inmate, and had a Liberian holding company. It concludes: "He is known to be a member of the Libertarian Party."
Also, the FBI warned against messing with "war gamers."
